There are some celebrities that quietly and devoutly attend masses, and there are some that do not. Today we are going to look at some of our favorite celebrities that do not believe in God.

Despite actually playing God in “Bruce Almighty” and “Evan Almighty”, this esteemed actor is a non-believer. In response to a question about religion, he stated: “My belief system doesn’t support a creator as such; we can call him God, who created us in His/Her/Its image.” He went on to say that he was unsure of whether he was an atheist or agnostic because he believes that we actually created God. He finished his thought by saying “So if I believe in God, and I do, because I think I am God.”

It should come as no surprise, especially if you follow this funny man on Twitter, to know that Ricky Gervais is an atheist. When it comes to religions, he has several quotes that perfectly explain his feelings on religion. One such quote is “Everyone has the right to believe anything they want. And everyone else has the right to think that they are <expletive> ridiculous.” Another one is “Imagine if you carried on believing in Santa and the Tooth Fairy into adulthood. And even killed & started wars over it. Haha. Imagine that.”

Billy Joel admits to growing up in a household that had religion. He stated that as a child he attended a Catholic mass as much as he attended a Jewish temple. While he does identify as a “cultural Jew” today, he admits that he is an atheist.

Kevin Bacon was raised as a Catholic, though he is an atheist. When asked about his religion, he bluntly stated that “I don’t believe in God”. When it comes to his band, they even have lyrics like “Please don’t hurt the children/please lay down the rod/Please don’t send your bombs in and say you’re doing the work of God.”

In response to a question about religion, Thompson responded: “I regard religion with fear and suspicion. It’s not enough to say that I don’t believe in God. I actually regard the system as distressing. I’m offended by some of the things stated in the Bible and the Koran, and I refute them.”
