EPL: Cavani vows not to return to Man United again due to No 7 shirt battle with Ronaldo

Edinson Cavani has threatened not to return to Manchester United if his number 7 shirt is handed over to Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Paddypower.

Currently, Cavani will miss even more games due to international football commitments.

The 34-year-old may never be seen in United’s shirt again as he would be very angry if Ronaldo asked for his number 7 shirt from Manchester United.

“Do you think forcing a guy to listen to Ole’s 99 stories every day would be bad enough, but then you take his shirt off?” The newspaper’s South American correspondent said of Cavani.

“He hasn’t been so insulted since Neymar’s father scorched his eyebrows and farted in the PSG locker room after beating OSC Le Merde in the League Cup final on penalties.”

Cavani is set to return to Old Trafford in February 2022 with Uruguay set to play a World Cup qualifying series amid COVID-19 isolation rules.

But media report United may never see the veteran striker again as legend Ronaldo demanded the number 7 shirt.

“Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Memphis Depay, all the greats have used it,” quoted the media citing a source close to Ronaldo’s camp.

“Really he was disappointed that the club didn’t take him out when he left in 2009 – Birmingham pulled Jude Bellingham off after 20 games! Look at what CR7 has done for United. “
