Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney highlighted what Cristiano Ronaldo’s return will bring to the club
Rooney won eight trophies alongside Ronaldo when the pair formed a Manchester United attack that also included players like Carlos Tevez.
Rooney has maintained that the legendary striker will not be joining City when the first rumors erupted earlier this week.
Rooney endorsed the 36-year-old for having a transformative effect on the youngest talent in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
“For the fans it will be great to see Cristiano come back, it’s very exciting for everyone at the club,” Rooney told talkSPORT.
“And for his teammates too, for some of these young guys in the locker room, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, some of these young guys who grew up watching him play at Old Trafford.
“For them it would be a big help, I’m sure. He will bring his mentality to the club.
“He’s still one of the best players in the world so I think he’s a really good rookie.”
