Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United defender, has said Sir Alex Ferguson would have hated seeing Cristiano Ronaldo in the Manchester City shirt.
Ronaldo made an impressive return to Old Trafford on Friday after days of negotiations with Manchester City.
The 36-year-old had suddenly decided to leave Juventus, a club he joined from Real Madrid three seasons ago.
Ferdinand, a former England international, posted a video on his fashion brand’s Twitter page, FIVE, confirming that he had spoken to Ronaldo about a rumored move to Manchester City, which appeared to be at stake on Thursday.
Ferdinand said: “Sir Alex Ferguson would have been exactly the same. I would have hated to see Cristiano in the Man City shirt, like anyone else who has been logged in for a long time at this football club.
“I called him right away and asked him, ‘What’s going on? Tell me you’re lying. “
